Hello friends, welcome again to our humble VIZ Media Substack! It’s November already, and the cozy fall vibes grow with each passing day. For me, the annual Daylight Savings Time shift ushers the chilly season into the forefront of my mind. After all, it’s kinda hard to ignore the sunsetting at 4:30-5pm, right? 😅 This season is my favorite time of year (and not just because I’m a Scorpio lolol), but the lengthy nights can feel a bit rough for many of us out there (serotonin, where art thou)! If you need some quality vibes to lift your spirits, here’s a solution to many, if not all of life's problems: joyous anime news and events! Here we goooooooo.
Happy season's greetings! 🧟🎁 Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead Season Grand Finale arrives on December 25th! Last we left off, Akira and friends gained a new member: Beatrix, a German lady with immense respect and knowledge of Japanese culture (plus some serious combat skills)! The gang also set off for Akira’s hometown to visit his parents, and it appears some trouble might be brewing. 😱
CathDiazA, LarryG707, and smash_1209 (X), you’re DEAD-on (🧟♀️) that the slew of Zom 100 episodes will make for a miraculous Christmas! For those of us who celebrate Christmas, it’ll be a holly-jolly time indeed. I can’t remember when there was a huge anime or manga drop on Santa’s special day. That makes this particularly exciting imho. I think it’s pretty hype to experience a much anticipated anime season finale, or something special connected to anime on any important holiday! Personally, I watch Sailor Moon S the Movie every year in accordance with my personal Christmas rituals, and hope to continue that tradition for many years to come!
Another obligatory childhood anecdote: it was Christmas of 1999. As a wee little one, I was SO elated when I ripped open the box containing an Eva Unit-01 action figure (your cue to read the Evangelion manga, do iiiiittt)! I very desperately requested and beleaguered my parents in advance to purchase the figurine, even though I hadn’t even seen or read Evangelion yet (poser alert m i rite). I just knew Eva Unit-01 looked super cool regardless, so I NEEDED IT! This is probably the formative reason I fell head over heels for all things Evangelion just a few years later, BTW.

mydalif, (X), I hope you have a lovely time watching the Zom 100 season grand finale with your brother and girlfriend! Honestly, there are few activities as warm and as comforting as snuggling with your partner and watching some new anime (totally cool if your sibling’s third-wheelin’ nearby too). Sounds like the three of you mutually love the series, so that only makes it all the merrier!

On 11/18 at 2:15pm, we’re hosting a special panel featuring Yoshifumi Tozuka, the creator of the hit Shonen Jump series Undead Unluck, along with Moe Kahara, the Japanese voice actress of Fuuko! Yoshifumi Tozuka will also do signings on Friday, 11/17 at 4pm in the Autograph Area, as well as Saturday 11/18, 3:45pm at the same spot.
