And also *2nd drum-roll* exciting posts about very Spring-adjacent manga (or at least imho)! 🌸 Let’s get to it.

One-Punch Man is fresh on all our minds this week thanks to the explosive unveiling of the Season 3 trailer! Given the nature of this upcoming arc, it felt apropos to highlight the overwhelming force that is Garo! Yusuke Murata’s art is indeed constantly sublime (his line-work and mastery of shadows are gut-punches that make you feel his artistic prowess).

When I said there are certain manga I associate with Spring, I absolutely had Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End in mind. There’s something specific to Frieren’s art style, the characters, and the overall fantasy mood that makes me think of Spring more than any other time of year. And yes, what a balanced series it is! Frieren herself is such a uniquely endearing character, and the manga does a lovely job spending adequate time across a variety of different narrative elements: harrowing battles, witty character dialogue, intimate serene sections where the protags journey from one town to the next, etc. I like how one element rarely outweighs another!
